Stetin Bay adjacent to Kimbe is a globally recognised marine biodiversity hotspot, and the Sea Women of Melanesia have a regional office in Kimbe town. Team leader Naomi Longa has clan connections to this area through her paternal family, and she has done fantastic work in this area training young local women, organising shoreline cleanups, monitoring coral health on the nearby reefs, and supporting the coastal communities west of Kimbe in their efforts to create Locally Managed Marine Areas.
